Improving a complex investment platform without oversimplifying workflows
Project challenge
Finansbanken is a white-label online banking platform developed for Nykredit and several smaller Danish banks. I worked on the investment area of the netbank, focusing on restructuring complex financial data into a clearer and more navigable experience. The platform serves experienced investors who work with dense financial information and require both precision and clarity.
The existing investment interface was dense and difficult to navigate, making it hard to understand performance, risk, and portfolio structure without deep domain knowledge and a high level of cognitive effort from users
A streamlined investment experience that preserved professional depth while improving clarity, orientation, and confidence through clearer hierarchy and contextual guidance.
The investment interface was restructured around clear hierarchy and grouping, making it easier to understand portfolio composition, performance, and risk at a glance without flattening professional detail.
Complex financial data was supported by contextual explanations and inline guidance, allowing users to interpret numbers and trends without requiring expert-level knowledge.
Existing workflows were streamlined and aligned with the new design system, for both desktop and mobile view, reducing cognitive load while maintaining consistency across multiple banks using the white-label platform.
Designing for financial products reinforced the importance of balancing precision and accessibility. Clear structure, contextual explanation, and consistent patterns proved more valuable than adding visual complexity when supporting confident decision-making in data-heavy environments.
